It has been revealed today that a police helicopter crew encountered a UFO over Cardiff, Wales. The incident occured almost two weeks ago, on 7 June 2008.
The UFO was first spotted near MOD Saint Athan (a defence base in the Vale of Glamorgan) by the three-man helicopter crew. The helicopter was waiting for landing clearance when the UFO shot by. The police helicopter was equipped with an onboard camera, however the object was not captured on tape.
Rumours have been circulating that the police helicopter was "attacked" by the UFO and the pilot responded by chasing the UFO, however South Wales police have recently denied this.
A spokesperson for South Wales police confirmed that, "the Air Support Unit sighted an unusual aircraft. This was reported to the relevant authorities for their investigation" and added, "they are convinced it was a UFO. It sounds far-fetched, but they know what they saw."
The MOD's comment on the incident amused me, "we’ve heard nothing about this. But it is certainly not advisable for police helicopters to go chasing what they think are UFOs."
If UFOs do not exist (as the MOD has claimed) or are nothing but balls of plasma, why is it "not advisable" to chase a them?
Since the UFO was not captured on tape and no hard evidence exists, I don't think much more can come of this case, but it's another good example of a UFO sighting with credible witnesses - trained observers who can be trusted.
